Infant colic and reflux (IC/R) are common in babies and makes them irritable, unsettled, and cry excessively.

Infant colic and reflux (IC/R) are common in babies and makes them irritable, unsettled, and cry excessively.
Many parents find it difficult to cope with their baby’s distress, which negatively affects their confidence, the relationship with the baby, and their mental health.
If you have been allocated to this arm, your baby will continue to receive the usual treatment at Alder Hey. After 6 weeks, you will join a focus group to share your experience with the researchers.
In addition to the usual treatment at Alder Hey, you will be expected to attend three, 60 minutes online group sessions that will give you the chance to make connections, share experiences and receive support from other parents in similar circumstances. Alongside this, you will have 24/7 access to a parenting WhatsApp group. After 6 weeks, you will join a focus group to share your experience with the researchers.
In addition to the usual treatment at Alder Hey, you will attend three, 60 minutes online group sessions where a group of specialists will help you develop new knowledge and understanding for managing your baby's symptoms. After 6 weeks, you will join a focus group to share your experience with the researchers.
In addition to the usual treatment at Alder Hey, you will be expected to attend three, 60 minutes online group sessions where you will learn from a music therapist and a musician the benefits of singing to your baby for managing your babies' symptoms and your wellbeing and how to feel confident to do it. After 6 weeks, you will join a focus group to share your experience with the researchers.
YOUR PARTICIPATION
If you participate, you will be allocated to one of the interventions described above. Please note that if you are allocated to Peer Support, Music, or Health Education interventions you will still receive the usual support that you already receive from Alder Hey clinicians, i.e., taking part in this study does not affect the clinical care that you and your baby receive.
Requirements
. Your baby must be under the care of an Alder Hey clinician
• Your baby must be under 6 months of age
• Your baby is often unsettled due to colic, reflux, and/or cow’s milk protein allergy.
• You are over 18 years of age
• You do not have a current or historic clinical diagnosis of a serious mental health condition i.e., bipolar disorder, psychosis, and/or schizophrenia.
